Seedlab Tasmania at Agfest

Seedlab Tasmania is a statewide Incubator and Accelerator program designed to support businesses producing food and drink products, especially. Seedlab Tasmania has been supported by Woolworths, which proudly supports the national program also: Seedlab Australia.

Dr Hazel MacTavish-West, the CEO and founder of Seedlab Tasmania says “Seedlab is a unique, proven and independent incubator and accelerator program for businesses producing fresh, and value-added food and drink products, and other consumer products for local, interstate and international markets. Thanks to support from Woolworths, Seedlab has been able to support over 100 Tassie businesses to start, scale and grow”.

You’ll be able to chat with the Seedlab Tasmania team at Agfest – Seedlab Tasmania will be in the Woolworths Marquee, alongside three of our graduates who are now supplying Woolworths stores with their products, in varying but increasing store numbers:

Red Cow Organics

Andy and Matt Jackman produce deliciously creamy, organic cheeses made on their organic farm in Oldina, in North-West Tasmania. To take the next step in their business, the Seedlab program helped the Jackman’s narrow their focus in order to scale.

Red Cow Organics has been supplying Woolworths Stores in Tasmania and New South Wales for the last 10 months. Andy says: “it has been an exciting time in Red Cow Organics business’s growth as this partnership has increased our production and cheese sales. We are excited to be part of the Woolworths show case at this year’s Agfest, where we’ll share our story and our beautiful organic cheeses with visitors.”

Thai Larder

Passionate about creating truly authentic Thai flavours, Ann and Rob Atkinson came to Seedlab with an idea to establish Thai Larder as an artisanal Thai food producer. They developed a range of three fresh Thai simmer sauces from Tasmanian ingredients. Ann and Rob were thrilled to be listed recently in all Tasmanian Woolworths stores.

House of Fudge

Based in Hobart, Roz and Chris Madsen produce premium, handcrafted, smooth and creamy fudge, known far and wide as “Bliss in a Box”. Roz and Chris’s gluten free range incorporates delicious Tasmanian produce and has won gold and silver medals at the Australian Food Awards.

Agfest visitors will be able to taste fresh fudge samples from a range of three new Vegetable Fudges made from Tasmanian ingredients including peppermint essential oil and spinach, blackcurrant with beetroot, and Manuka honey with carrot and mango, which were developed as part of the couple’s Seedlab journey. “We love to do tastings and talk to customers about our fudge and can’t wait to share our beautiful fudge with everyone at Agfest 2022.”
